Webpage Design Critique

A good professional web design is the design for yahoo.com.  This website has great design because it is very user friendly.  The average person is able to go to Yahoo and find what they are looking for.  The toolbar on the right allows users to chose from a variety of different topics ranging from sports to weather.  Also the color and layout are basic but provide a lot for the user.  Overall, Yahoo is a very good example of web design.

A good personal web design is the design for http://www.karymullis.com/.  This website is for a Nobel Prize winning doctor.  The layout is very simple with an elegant aspect to it.  The accessibility of the sites other pages is easy with a toolbar up top allowing users to look through the site.  Also their is a picture of the doctor on the front page which allows visitors of the site to get more familiar with him.

A bad web design is the design for http://absurdlycool.com/.  This website has bad web design because there is very small font and a lot of advertisements.  Also it is not very user friendly because the rating system of each deal does not make very much sense.  Overall, the whole layout of this website does not work well or make very much sense.

These instructional videos I chose are very good because they walk you through the fundamentals of tennis.  The videos give a very thorough explanation of how to hit different shots in tennis and I am sure anyone could learn something from watching them.  I chose this genre because it interests me and I have used it before and am familiar with it.

Here is my edited interview!!!

I edited it by taking out some of the awkward pauses. There are still a few but for the most part it flows pretty well.  I took the interview without a microphone and the sound quality was still pretty good. :)

Photo Editing Lab

I took the picture I posted last week.  I decided to edit the photo in IPhoto because I struggle with photoshop and it slightly confuses me.  In IPhoto I changed the antique to 3 which gave it an aged look.  I changed the fade color to 2 which lightened it up.  Then I changed the boost color to 3 which gave it a cool color.  Here is the finished result:

Elements of a good blog and a couple examples

      There are many elements that make up a good blog.  One of the ones that I am most attracted to is whether or not the information in the blog is unique.  I want to see a new perspective on the information that is both interests me and captivates me.  Another important element of a blog is that it keeps up with current events and talks about them in a timely fashion.  No one wants to hear an analysis of something that happened a week or two ago.  People want it fast so it can keep up with their busy lives.


     A professional blog I found is called Busted Racquet.  This blog is part of the yahoo sports section and is all about what is going on in professional tennis.  The reason this blog is so popular is because it gives unique perspectives on popular news that is going on in tennis.  Also they report on interesting aspects of each tennis news article rather than just giving the facts.

      A personal blog I found is called Jeff's Baseball Card Collection Blog.  This blog was created by a sports card collector who wanted to post all his cards on his website and talk about his collection.  He was able to create a database on his blog which you can see and access any card he has in his collection.  His blog gives readers the ability to have access to his collection without actually being there.  Through this he is able to attract a lot of readers and continue sparking interest in his blog throughout the sports collectibles world.
